Message from Snook ISD Counselors.
Check out these two children’s books from the Snook library as a stepping stone to talking about mindfulness with your kids.
The Three Questions by Jon Muth - this book is great for reflecting on the importance of doing good deeds and paying attention to the present moment
I’m in Charge of Celebrations by Byrd Baylor - the main character in this simply illustrated book celebrates her environment in a way that most wouldn’t
For other mindful moments, when reading with your child draw attention to how characters appreciate their surroundings, are present in the moment, or are aware of their feelings.

Message from the Snook ISD Counselors
When you are experiencing a particularly stressful moment, a popular mindfulness exercise known as S.T.O.P. can be helpful.
Stop. Just take a momentary pause, no matter what you’re doing.
Take a breath. Feel the sensation of your own breathing, which brings you back to the present moment.
Observe. Acknowledge what is happening, for good or bad, inside you or out. Just note it.
Proceed. Having briefly checked in with the present moment, continue with whatever it was you were doing.
